For blog post #5 Plan for next paper you need to tell me (in complete sentences):• your topic• who you'll interview• what research/other reporting you should do
My topic is celebrity look-alikes
I will interview one or two people but the staff and my peers have to suggest look-alike to me, I will not make them up by myself.
The only research I will do is looking around school to see who looks like who.

#2 readings
The article that interested me the most was the "A Record of Honor" Article writen by Frank Main, Mark Konkok, Rosemary Sobol. The articles sunject was nothing less than heartbreaking but they way the article was written was a little inpersonal and could have been more heartwarming. I think they did The subject justice by putting as much information about the subject as possible. The article was about an 84 award-winning 15-year veteran police officer that was gunned down on Monday night on the southwest side of Chicago.
I think the article focused to much on the investigation and not enough celebrating the life of a great man lost in a sensless tragedy.

Some of the things that are going on in the November issue of the Steinmetz Star is the regular Photo Opinion which is "What are you thankful for?" I think this is too much of a cliche topic considering it is Thanksgiving, i think the question could have been more personal or creative.
We have features like the Hugh Hefner story, abusive relationships and celebrity look-alikes. We also have new topics like Tatoos, and the Fall Dance. It takes a while to find people to interview, even longer to edit and revise. The easiest and fastest thing to do is take pictures, depending on the topic.
The most important thing in the newspaper that we rarely but do do is get people names wrong, which we always double check to make sure we arent calling "Mickey" "Dickey" haha.
My article was celebrity look-alikes. Everyone was enthusiastic about finding out who looked like which celebrity. At first I didnt want my article in the paper, but now im excited to see how the student body reacts.

Timelines is important to the news because it has to do with how current the news is. Nobody wants to read news thats old because you dont always get the most accurate details.
Proximity can be important depending on wether its international or national. If its national news how close the event is to the site of publication is important because people want to know whats going on in their local area more than whats happening 1000 miles away. If it international how close the event is to the site of publication is not important at all unless you have reporters on site to cover breaking news
Prominence can or cannot be important to news. It refers to how well known the subject of the report is to the public. Obviously, People would want to know what the president is up to, but something like a new music artists that arent as popular now, are worth getting to know about can be helpful to know to.
Consequence refers to how important the event in quetion is to the public. Sometimes a report will be more valuable if it is more important.
Human Interest is an important aspect in the news because it refers to how much emotion the story makes the reader feel. This can be hard to do when you're doing a report on stock brokers ,but more when its a story about a devestating hurricane.
Conflict is "the element of news that involves tension, suprise, and suspense"
